What do you mean by Lean and Green?

Welcome to the Queen of Lean and Green. Join me on my journey to a healthier lifestyle through creative, delicious lean and green recipes! I have always been passionate about cooking and experimenting with flavors. I was inspired to start this blog after beginning the Optavia 5&1 program. Basically they send you all these bars, shakes, etc. that make up 5 of your 6 meals throughout the day. Your sixth, most exciting, meal is your lean and green. The program creates parameters around what you can eat for this meal and it's an excellent format to follow whether you're on this plan or not!

For those of you curious about the breakdown, here's what it looks like:

A lean & green meal includes 5 to 7 ounces of lean protein plus 3 servings of non-starchy vegetables and up to 2 servings of healthy fats, depending on your lean protein choices. Details on what's allowed here. We're also watching condiment intake - limiting daily servings to 3. We use condiments to add flavor and zest to our meals, but also have to remember that they contribute to overall carbohydrate intake. A condiment serving should contain no more than 1 gram of carbohydrates. For details on healthy fats and condiments, click here.

So, whether you're on the 5&1 plan or just looking for low carb & low fat recipes, WELCOME! I'm so excited to share with you what I've been whipping up in my kitchen. Here's to a healthier chapter in my life and the birth of THE QUEEN OF LEAN AND GREEN!
